Portfolio Website:

I am currently making a portfolio website. The website that I want to make is flash. I want to make it using mostly flash and photoshop. Dreamweaver is going to get involved for the seach engine problem that I would have if i just used flash and photoshop.

Now, My question is with flash. I understand flash to an average level, animations and some games are easy. Where I have trouble, is the masking and webdesign. Two aspects that i want to incorporate into this website.

I have seen it done where the main bulk of each page is put into one movie. That would have like background a few images, and navigation. Then for each part of the page that displays infromation. I have a template that was given to me by another designer in my area and he said I could just use that and butcher it and change it to my liking. However, can not for the life of me figure out how he did it. And I do not wish to take anybodies work. Soo... here I am begging for help on how to make the multiple swf's work as one webpage. Usuing the masking layer.

Anybody that is willing to help?

If I make a logo based on two types of fonts, can I then call it for "my design"?

I feel bad everytime I make text logos, because I feel like "I haven't done anything" or that "someone else made the font" and "it's too easy just to put them together".... Some input?

Littlefish IT Support Releases Embedded Social Bookmarking and RSS Support

In an effort to improve customer experience and communication, Littlefish IT Support has unveiled support for embedded social bookmarking and RSS feed for its corporate website.

RSS feed, collectively known as web feed, allow Littlefish IT Support to distribute news and announcements directly to end customers. Littlefish IT Support news and announcements are distributed through the RSS feed found at http://www.littlefishsupport.com/rss.xml.
RSS feed are commonly read through software known as an RSS reader.

In addition to web feed support, Littlefish IT Support has also embedded the ability to tag and link interesting content on the Littlefish’s website through popular social bookmarking sites, such as Digg (http://www.digg.com), Del.icio.us (http://del.icio.us) and Technorati (http://www.technorati.com).
Embedded social bookmarking allows Littlefish IT Support customers to easily discuss and share their favorite Littlefish content.

Web feeds and social bookmarking are increasingly popular methods of keeping up with news and interesting content from all around the web. The feed on our website are yet another way for us to keep our customers informed of new developments at Littlefish IT Support and other related news, said Adam Webb, Littlefish Group CEO.

Updating Littlefish IT Support website with the latest in information sharing and distribution technologies was a natural step for Littlefish in a busy year of service improvements including new website and new offices across the UK.

Header Trouble

So my plan is to have a different background color for the header than the background color for the body. The background color for the header pretty much encompasses everything I want it to encompass EXCEPT between the logo and the navigation there's a small gap of space that has the background color for the body instead of the background color for the header.

So I tried making a little spacer bar with the background color of the header in Paint Shop Pro to see if it would fill the gap, but it only made it look worse. So I'm not sure how to go about filling up that space so the entire header looks unified in one background color.

I am so stuck on this design. The client wants to include their new logo (ENSYNC), as well as the logo of the product they implement (IFS) on a email newsletter campaign. Basically I just want some pointers, thoughts, critique and general good practice tips please.

Thanks so much!

The new logo:

The old logo:

The Product Logo:

Hello All,

How are you doing?

Simple question alothough im finding it hard to answer.

My online portfolio is nearly finished but ! ...i'm not sure as to the volume of work to show.

Most of my work to date is graphic art, of which I am very happy with.

Is 9-10 rows of 8 images 70px x 70px to much to expect a viewer to look at.

All my images are together in rows at the moment, ungrouped by tag etc..
Should i expect the viewer to CLICK again into sections or leave in basic groups ..?

see here

How have others gone about putting there images together online...

InDesign, Formats, and Printing

Okay. So I'm working on a family recipe book that will end up being a christmas present for my generation of the family. It will include a bit of family history and popular recipes that our family loves to make - including things from pumpkin chocolate chip cookies to my mother's spaghetti recipe. It will include full bleed pictures and numerous colors.

My first question is the most important for the moment - how on earth do you save indesign files so that you can upload them to the internet? This is mostly important because otherwise, you guys can't help me with my work, and two, the printing process will be problematic. Thanks.

Another question I have it about the printing process itself. One of the companies I'm looking into is Lulu. They have a special section for cookbooks. I'd plan on making it a 7.5/7.5 square and bound using "Perfect Bound." Does anyone have any experience with this company? Or any other book printing companies? I'd prefer not to print from a UK company, as I'm almost as far from the UK as I can get. If you have any thoughts on the printing process, I'd definitely appreciate it.

If you can answer either of those, that would be great. Once I get the first question answered, I'll upload some of the pages I've completed to ask for your thoughts.

Thanks!
Maggie
