PyLaunchy is an extension to Launchy plugin system, that allows a user to develop Launchy plugins in the Python programming language.

Launchy is a free open source application launcher for GNU/Linux and Windows, written in C++ and uses QT. The application can be extended by writing C++ plugins. PyLaunchy provides a framework for writing Launchy plugins as Python scripts, instead of C++.

PyLaunchy also includes some powerful Launchy plugins:

PyGo-Y: Switch windows with Launchy
PyDiry: Launch directories contents
PyWebIndex: Launch links from index pages

Firefox 3 doesn't store your bookmarks in the plain old HTML file that Firefox 2 did, so desktop launchers like Quicksilver and Launchy can't index them properly. But...
