We think this is just another horrible act by Microsoft to make money off their outdated software before everyone starts realizing that most of Microsoft’s software can be now replicated by Google Docs or other free software.

But if you do need MS Office, you can get one for $59.95.

besteikaiwa.com is the classroom/homework system created by Best Eikaiwa in Maizuru Japan.

It’s a bilingual (Japanese/English) system which allows teachers to enter vocabulary in ‘online whiteboards’ and have that saved as flashcards for the students for later use.

The system has been built to be especially easy and instinctive to use – everything which can be automated has been automated and the remaining interfaces have been simplified as far as possible. It’s expected that student users will mostly be ‘barely able to manage html email’ and that the average teacher will be just slightly more tech savvy and able to manage to use the simpler features of an application such as skype or Messenger.

It also incorporates multimedia technology with custom audio and video recorders built in to provide personalized streaming audio and video.
